Farewell to Polly and Cesar DeWindt

Club News

The members of the Rotary Club of Lae Huon Gulf said our sad farewells to two special fellow Rotarians, friends and mentors, Polly and Cesar DeWindt.

John Byrne addressed Cesar. John spoke both personally, and on behalf of the members, of Cesar’s commitment to Rotary and his outstanding positive personal qualities as a man. He had shown us all what it means to live your life using the guidelines of Rotary. Cesar has guided, encouraged, supported (and gently nagged) many of the new Rotarians to the club.

To Polly – you have given your all to the club. You too are an outstanding Rotarian and member of our community. You have provided friendship, support and your sense of fun and humour when the road ahead was steep. (Especially to the women in our club.)

Both Cesar and Polly are wonderful people and it has been a privilege to have you both as members of The Rotary Club of Lae Huon Gulf.

Cesar replied. He is confident that with the passion, commitment and capacity for hard work by John Byne, as president, the club will continue to prosper. He was also very complimentary to the Secretary, Jo Richardson for her involvement and passion. Cesar acknowledged the long term members of Rotary, such as Aihi Miria. Stephen Beach and Hans Mehl, for their continued support and hard work for Rotary in Lae.

With our farewells said Polly (Holly) cut their cake.

Remember everyone Polly and Cesar are just over the range in Port Moresby
